Collaboration Workforce Strategy
Hiring, developing and keeping effective employees represent the greatest challenge that employers face. As such, a major priority for the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance (VIEA) is to ensure that organizations will have access to the skilled people they require as the economy develops and diversifies over time. Towards that end, VIEA is spearheading work to assess the human resource needs of key industry sectors, review the current and projected labour market supply, identify gaps, and work with key stakeholders to prepare a comprehensive labour market strategy that addresses current and future needs.
The project is structured in three distinct phases:
• The first phase combines primary research with available secondary data to develop a preliminary profile of current and projected human resource needs on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
• The second phase defines the key gaps and other issues to be addressed by the labour market strategy. It also identifies potential strategies and actions that could be considered to address these gaps and issues.
• The third phase develops the Vancouver Island Collaborative Workforce Strategy.
