Farming and food and beverage manufacturing (both large and small-scale operations) characterize the sector.  The South and Southeast coast of Vancouver Island are largely the most fertile agricultural areas.  Most notable of these include the Capital, Cowichan, Nanaimo and Comox Valley regional districts.  Agricultural products are extremely varied and include cattle, fruit and vegetables in addition to award-winning vineyards and specialty products.
