This economic sector reflects all levels of education – primary, secondary and post-secondary – as well as specialized instruction.  It employed 24,600 Vancouver Island residents in 2006.  Growth in the sector has been driven of late by the post-secondary system where significant reinvestment in the institutions has occurred.
